Ghosts in the Toybox Chapter 1 is a VR first-person shooter that pits you against a house full of demented toys. A mad scientist's experiment has trapped ghosts in these toys and it's up to you to find and defeat them.
Fight wave after wave of monsters
If you've played other VR wave shooters, you won't find much that's new about the gameplay of Ghosts in the Toybox Chapter 1. The game does offer you some fun variety in terms of the different weapons you can use, all of which are built from improvised items scavenged from around the house. The visuals are charming, with bright colours and a detailed setting that presents an ordinary house from a toy's-eye-view perspective. The enemies, simultaneously goofy and malevolent, are equally fun. Defeating the levels of the story mode unlocks a new set of arcade challenges.
A wave shooter with a unique visual style
Gameplay-wise, Ghosts in the Toybox Chapter 1 isn't innovative, and like many wave shooters it lacks significant player choice. But it's fast-paced, with a goofy sense of humour, and ultimately charming.
